Job Description

Position: Senior Market Development Manager - Compounding

Report to: Additive Business Leader

Location: Shanghai Downtown

Responsibilities:

  • Focus on China compounding market to explore and develop polymer additives business. The scope of the role includes development of market intelligence of China compounding market, customer engagement, leading cross-functional project teams to deliver growth projects and identifying new applications and products in compounding industry for the business
  • Work closely with Asia Additives and global business leaders to understand overall business strategies, work with sales team to develop good local market and related industry understanding and translate into growth plans based on good local market understanding
  • Lead Opportunity Analysis to validate growth and performance improvement initiatives in the Polymer Additives business
  • Develop new business models and partnerships to pursue growth opportunities and drive the implementation with cross-functional support
  • Work with sales team and global business team to understand potential new markets, develop value propositions, and implement go-to-market plans
  • Develop and communicate compounding market intelligence; Monitor the activities of competitive materials suppliers and develop strategies and plans to meet competitive challenges

Qualifications:

  • BSc or above in Chemistry, Polymer Science/Engineering or related; MBA degree is a plus
  • 10-15 years working experience in plastics, compounding, engineering plastics as sales, marketing and market development
  • Experience in product formulation & testing, product development, or technical market development; exhibits the ability to translate technical concepts into practical solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-functional, global team structure and motivate team members and peers with strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • A positive, energetic leadership style that leverages relationships and inspires confidence in others
  • Proven marketing competency and analytical skills with basic financial knowledge to develop business cases for management review and decision making
  • Be able to create a visually sharp presentation to communicate ideas to a varied audience
  • Critical thinking skills and analytical abilities that enable rapid assessment of situations and opportunities
  • Be able to anticipate potential issues and suggest creative alternatives to overcome barriers
  • Assertive personality with experience working with customers to implement value-added solutions
  • Be able to work in a matrix organization and influence without formal authority
  • Be able to leverage relationships and inspire confidence in others
  • Up to 30% travel time
  • Good spoken and written in English and Chinese
  • Open-minded for new opportunities and self-motivation
  • Good interpersonal skills and customer oriented
  • Maturity, Ethics, Political acumen are key characteristics to be identified
