Key Account Sales

Division: Plastics Additives

Report to: China Sales Leader

Location: Shanghai

Key Duties and Responsibilities

This position is established to support the continuing expansion of Company’s Chemical business in China.

  • Direct in-depth contact with customers in order to promote Chemical products.
  • Should have the ability and be comfortable with direct contact at all levels of these organizations
  • Help develop sales/market strategies for Millad clarifiers, and other Chemical products.
  • Qualify leads generated by ads, press releases and other promotional activities.
  • Prioritize leads and inquiries to focus on those in line with marketing and sales strategies.
  • Attend trade shows, conferences and technical meetings involved in the promotion of polypropylene and polyurethane and other chemical products.
  • Report technical problems with suggested solutions and implement solutions
  • Identify new markets for chemical’s products
  • Gather competitive information and report to management.
  • On a continuing basis review and recommend changes that need to be made in sales and market strategies.
  • Keep up to date of the PP&PE process technology and plastic processing technology (ie. Injection molding, thermoforming…)
  • Contribute to application development project to find our new opportunities for chemical’s products


  • Education – Bachelor or Master degree preferred in Polymer Science and Engineering or Chemistry or Material Science, or other science if no others available.
  • More than 6 years’ experience in the petrochemical industry, polymer & resin area will be preferred. Areas of experience could be technical service, or sales, production or R & D.
  • Must have good contacts and be well respected in his current job.
  • Experience in polyolefin plant including polymerization process, extrusion & pelleting process or production planning will be preferred.
  • Knowledge of polyolefin application and processing technology (injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming, etc) will be a plus.
  • Must have the ability and presence to contact at high levels within an organization, in large national and multi-national companies, and small local companies. Must be comfortable and willing to develop relationships with lower operational and administrative levels.
  • The ability to adapt to Western company culture is important. The position will require a person to be able to communicate and function well in a Western style company organization as well as traditional business culture in their country. This person will be the liaison to communicate important business issues and opportunities back to the Western management.
  • Flexibility of character and Strategic thinking is important.
  • Being an “ambassador” to represent Milliken’s products, services, and business offerings.


This position will require that the individual travel a large percentage of the time. It will also involve a trip to the USA (1 month) for technical and business training. There will also be frequent trips to Singapore for sales meetings.
