Sales Director, General Industry, China & APAC

  • Our client is a global manufacturer specializing in highly engineered, complex and severe environment products that serve long-term, high growth infrastructure markets, including upstream oil and gas, power generation and aerospace– with a target of doubling in size in 3-5 years.

Job Location

Shanghai, China with 50%+ of demotic and international travel.

Report To

VP, China & Industrial APAC (P&L Leader, EMEA & APAC)

Position Summary

The Sales Director role is a leadership role that will lead the China and Asia Pacific General Industry sales organization including insides sales and customer service to sustainably grow the business across all channels as well as helping grow the valued commercial talents.

Principal Activities

  • Evaluates and implements appropriate sales strategies to increase the sales volume.
  • Develops, executes and polishes the commercial strategy regarding projects, priorities, sales operations, customer services and application engineering.
  • Ensure effective cross-functional interaction along with the entire value-chain to enhance customer intimacy and improve operational excellence.
  • Develop sales plans and proactively works to forecast material needs for the customer.
  • Designs and recommends sales programs and sets short and long-term sales strategies, including evaluating Channel Partners and optimizing their Products.
  • Lead and develop the Sales Team and partners to create customer focused solutions across product portfolio.
  • Recommends product or service enhancements to improve customer's satisfaction and sales potential.
  • Acts as an advisor to the commercial sales team regarding projects, priorities, and operations.
  • Manages interests with all commercial issues.

Qualifications Required

  • Demonstrated strong leadership, team building and advanced coaching skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate people, assess and develop employee skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in selling engineered products in a B2B environment
  • Experience in setting up and managing channel partners
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability.
  • A strong ability to be adaptable and flexible.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment.
  • Highly motivated, results oriented, driven.
  • Must demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience/strong understanding of budgeting/expense management with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices.
  • Experience in a global Company’s and in managing relationships with a US based headquarters.
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends.
  • Previous experience/best practices implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as; Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc. to drive improvement.
  • Previous experience/broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies.


  • Bachelor Degree or above, major in Engineering/Business/Finance/Management/Operations or other related field. (MBA Preferred)

Language Skills

  • Fluent spoken and written English and Mandarin are required.
