Job description


Commercial Manager, Performance Chemicals


Report to:
Asia Commercial Director

Division: Performance Products

Direct Report: 6

Business Scope: Industry applications, direct customer 40%, distributor 60%

Location: Shanghai


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the team will follow company safety policy, and participate the safety meeting & training in their local office.
  • Lead and support Sales Team to achieve business goal in line with global/regional business strategy.
  • To develop and implement key account and distribution management strategy and network. Ensure that Key Account plans are effectively implemented.
  • Work together with Marketing Manager to ensure that local targets and Key Performance Indicators are met or exceeded.
  • Lead the regional sales team to deliver the Business sales plans and budgets in line with the Company strategy and budget. Ensure the team have the necessary skills and resources to deliver the plans.
  • Drive the sales organization to look at growth opportunities in new markets and customers and report back to marketing. Work with marketing to evaluate these opportunities and execute plans in line with this evaluation.
  • Manage the commercial resources to ensure that time and financial investments are aligned to the largest value generation opportunities and are consistent with the business and market strategy.


Experience and Education Required:

  • Degree Level - usually in Chemistry or Engineering disciplines
  • At least 15 years commercial experience with 5 years at a senior level with responsibility for negotiating major contracts.
  • Strong commercial/ negotiating skills. Extensive knowledge of the specialty chemical industry and some of the downstream markets.
  • Responsibilities span a broad range of end markets where customer intimacy and market know how is key.
  • In depth market knowledge and real customer intimacy.
  • Managing a sales team that able to operate in this environment requires a broad range of leadership & commercial skills.
