Job description

Position: Business Sales Manager – Specialty Polymers

Report to: Product Line Manager

Location: Shanghai


  1. The incumbent develops and implements the Greater China regional strategy in the respective market segments and ensures accelerated and sustained business growth to the area of business for which he/she is responsible.
  • Set and align the business direction and trends for specified area
  • Create and carry out the market strategy.
  • Validate commercial market size estimations.
  • Identify growth opportunities and in developing existing and new business.
  • An overarching role in developing new businesses, value chain analysis and market trends.
  • Steer the region analysis of market development and potential.
  • Propose ideas for improving own market position and exploitation of potential.
  • Develop and maintains a project pipeline.
  • Understand customer needs, trends and analyzing competitor landscape to establish and execute regional objectives in each market segment.
  • Manage and train distributors to ensure aligned business strategy and help them to grow the business.
  • Work with the regional function, global product line to create and lead customers’ projects.
  • Maintain relationships with customers to ensure continued growth.
  • Optimize network contacts with regional customers and within the organization.
  • Maintain and build up a highly motivated regional team.
  • Implement sustainable personnel development measures.
  • Channel Management – selecting the right distributors and business facilitators for the different product lines.

  1. The incumbent is first level for customer: sales, technical representation and service in China.
  • Conduct and control all elements of basic sales process, such as: offers and contracts, incl. their documentation, credit management; solve open points in processing and logistics;
  • Negotiate of contract terms (with regard to) such as quantity, payment terms and conditions or delivery terms and conditions;
  • Negotiate the price (within the price range);
  • Prepare and negotiate sales or other product related contracts;
  • Decide on discounts, rebates, etc.;
  • Take responsibility of recovery of accounts receivables
  • Be Responsible for dunning process;
  • Discuss individual complaint procedure with the customer;
  • Provide individual conflict resolution to the customer;
  • Analyze the market development and potentials, propose ideas for improving own market position and exploitation of potentials;
  • Observe, analyze and report competitors´ marketing activities and strategies (e.g. products, personnel, processes) to support competitive benchmarking;
  • Perform local marketing.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree or above with technical background
  • At least 8 years working experience in technical and sales or marketing area for similar products
  • Highly developed strategic and creative thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Entrepreneurial drive and clearly visible upward potential
  • Excellent working attitude and values
  • Excellent oral and written English
