Job description


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all activities of the sales division in China
    1. Establish, develop and implement overall sales and marketing plan in support of company’s China strategy and objectives
    2. Continuously refine sales and marketing initiatives based on market research and competitor analyses
    3. Establish and control the sales and marketing budgets of the China division, including establishing ROI targets and KPIs for on-line marketing campaigns and off-line marketing efforts
    4. As a member of the company’s management team, contribute to product positioning, pricing, and promotion strategies
    5. Advise management and the Board on relevant consumer trends, customer feedback, and market information

  • Drive new sales
    1. Define and achieve annual China sales targets and KPI’s
    2. Identify, select, and negotiate deals with new distributors
    3. Identify, approach, and negotiate deals with new retail customers, particularly in supermarket, hypermarket, and cosmetic store channels
    4. Frequent travel throughout China will be required

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the China division, including:
    1. Directly manage major existing customer accounts and key prospects, and coordinate the management of all other accounts
    2. Oversee customer service/communications within China division
    3. Liaise with finance team in Australia to manage accounts receivable and ensure timely collection
    4. Liaise with production and logistics team in Australia to manage inventory availability and ensure timely delivery to customers

  • Human resource responsibilities
    1. Recruit, develop, and manage internal and external China sales team
    2. Establish and maintain a high performance culture

Year One Key Success Factors:

The China Sales Director will be responsible for and evaluated on their success in the following key areas.

  • Establish and implement overall sales and marketing plan in China
  • Define and achieve sales targets and KPI’s
  • Develop a good working relationship with existing distributors and key customers
  • Drive incremental new business through new distributors and retail customers
  • With Board approval, recruit and manage additional sales team members
  • Establish a strong presence with management and the Board and as a respected team member willing to roll-up his/her sleeves

Professional Experience Required:

  • Bachelor degree level qualifications
  • Five+ years of relevant sales experience in FMCG, retail, and E-commerce, preferably with at least two years in a successful foreign company/brand in their growth phase in China
  • Experience with launching new brands/products is highly preferred
  • Proven ability to identify, initiate, negotiate, and close deals with retail customers, preferably in supermarket, hypermarket, and cosmetic store channels
  • Proven ability to recruit, manage, and train a successful sales team
  • Experience driving sales growth on E-commerce channels and establishing and maintaining key ROI and KPIs for online marketing spend
  • Experience working in skincare or beauty industry a plus
  • Fluent in both Chinese and English
  • Proficient in Microsoft word, excel and power point
