Job Title: General Manager

Direct Line: VP, China

Location: Central China

Job Description

Purpose of the Role

The General Manager has full accountability for the safety, compliance, operational, and finance performance of the business in this region. The role is manager of the regional leadership team, and as such is accountable for planning, managing and delivering all day-to-day activities; providing direction to the local team, developing capabilities and driving performance delivery

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • To deliver a compelling customer offer, as well as the HSSEQ, E&C, financial, operational and people key performance metrics for the business
  • Leverage and develop strong internal and external relationships with local government, landlords, suppliers and customers to ensure execution of the regional strategy, and delivery of annual plans, plus effective management of the company’s branding
  • Safe and reliable operations across the network, ensuring compliance with the company’s process and procedures
  • Adhere to the code of conduct, and full transparency around any breaches or concerns
  • People leadership including effective capability development and succession planning
  • Ensure transfer of the best practices and Values & behaviors
  • Ensure Safe and efficient build program is in place to support the network development program
  • Drive culture of continuous improvement within Operations & Marketing
  • In year delivery of performance targets, including HSSE, E&C, financial, people, customer/brand
  • Embedded and Understood policies and procedures across all areas of the business
  • Set up of a new business, start up: set up of processes, policies and culture, ensuring best practices and standards are reflected appropriately
  • New market understanding and relationship building; working across different internal and external stakeholders

Experience (years and nature)

  • University Degree; Qualified in Business or related discipline
  • 10+ years of relevant business experience
  • Experience in new business set up or business integration
  • Strong Team leadership, role modelling and coaching
  • Experience on risk management; HSSEQ and E&C compliance
  • Proven track record in developing strong relationships
  • Fluent English; Mandarin is a strong advantage
  • Retail industry experience is an advantage
