Sales and Service Director, Asia - Analytic Instrument

Report line:

  • Reports to the Vice President Global Sales & Marketing
  • Team size: 60+ people (based in China, Hong Kong and Japan)

Job Summary:

  • This position has P&L responsibility for the Asia region.
  • The business’s headquartered in Germany, its core focus is that global provider of Optical Emission and XRF Spectrometers.
  • The company is a premier leader in the market for metal analyzers, employing Arc/Spark optical emission spectrometry - a technique widely regarded as the most precise and reliable measurement for this market, Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) optical emission spectrometers also bring the capability to make analytical liquids analysis particularly for environmental testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads all Asia sales and marketing activities including the setting of sales plans, objectives and the development of marketing strategies that result in expansion to new markets.
  • Manage the subsidiaries in China and Japan.
  • Manage the distributor network in Asean 6, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand.
  • Identifying opportunities for the company to increase and/or improve the efficiency of its business in Asia region.
  • Represents the company and its values in all internal and external business relationships.
  • Manage and develop sales force (i.e.: sets quotas, performance management, recruitment, employee development, etc.).

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in engineering or other technical degree, (physics, electronic engineering, chemistry); MBA desired.
  • 5-7 years of experience leading a sales team in an analytic instrument business.
  • Exceptional experience in managing, developing and leading teams.
  • Industry experience with in-depth knowledge of the competitors and markets in which operates, especially expertise in non-metal instruments is desired.
  • History of strategy development and execution skills leading to exceptional business results
  • Profit and loss experience
  • Minimum three to five years sales experience preferably with some in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide variety of people successfully.
  • Experience working in an international business and across country boundaries within North America.
  • Available for domestic and international travel up 25%, or more occasionally.
