Job Description

Job Title: Failure Analysis Director

Location: Zhuhai

Job Family Group: Quality Job Family: Failure Analysis


General Purpose:

  • Responsible to lead:
  • All failure analysis occurrences for products/components manufactured in Asia.
  • The support of Flex Mechanical Asia customer’s in analyzing field returns, reporting the results and proposing corrective actions.
  • Responsible to build a Failure Analysis Team consisting of Mechanical, Electrical and Electronical Engineers and Technicians who are able to conduct failure analysis in a professional and timely manner.
  • Train and coach extensively the FA team on different methodologies and systems of FA techniques.
    Guide the QA and NPI engineering on FA practices. (8D, six sigma, 5 why, PFEMA)

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Directs and coordinates FA engineering activities concerned with development, production and field returned material.
  • Directs and/or coordinates FA engineering and/or technical personnel in design of methods of failure analysis, testing and test control apparatus and equipment, or software and systems testing.
  • Interfaces and confers with scientific, engineering and technical personnel to resolve testing and field returned material problems such as failures of product or system malfunctions.
  • Analyzes and interprets Failures data and prepares technical FA reports for use by engineering, management personnel, and customers.
  • Trains and instructs FA technicians and operators on test hardware and/or software, failures solutions as well as proper problem-solving techniques.
  • Resolves test yield problems by performing analysis of root causes, developing and coordinating corrective action measures and monitoring improvements.
  • Analyzes yield trends and pareto to identify epidemic failures that required deeper evaluations.
  • Develops and monitors the efficacy and efficiency metrics to improve diagnostic process.

Education / Experience:
Minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience and training.
Typically requires 8 years of experience in test or Failure analysis engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related area.
